We're taking part in the Krazy Kosci Klimb!
When Oscar was born and we found out he had Down’s syndrome we were very scared for his future. How he would be, how he would cope, what he would be able to do and achieve. Thankfully all along our journey we have had the love and support of family and friends combined with direction, support and education from disability organisations like Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA). Organisations like CPA make our lives and Oscar’s life so much better. They help and guide us through all our milestones and challenges and help us make him the best he can possibly be.
Oscar struggles on an academic level. He can’t read and he can’t write.. yet.. and this causes him a lot of frustration and anxiety. But he can play sport and he loves it. Sport is the vehicle that allows Oscar to thrive, be accepted, builds his confidence, relieves his frustration and anxiety, and develops his physical fitness. Sport closes the gap and levels the playing field for Oscar. He is very good at it and it allows him to integrate into all sorts of groups in the wider community with typical kids because they can see he is just as able as everyone else.
At CPA Oscar participates in the Multi-Sports, Boxing and Personal Training programs. He loves these programs and looks forward to them every week.
This year Lucy (Oscar’s Mum) started working for CPA and due to someone having to drop out of the Krazy Kosci Klimb, our family was asked to participate. We are thrilled to be a part of this very special event that is raising money to fund essential Accessible Gym and Sports Programs at CPA. It will be a great achievement for not only Oscar but his little sister, Sadie and all of us to climb Mt Kosciusko and raise money for CPA to help people with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities.
We feel so lucky. Oscar has achieved so much already in his short life. We now know he can achieve a lot of things and he can dream BIG. We would love to raise $10,000 for Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Please help Oscar and us make a difference and donate today to make someone else's life better... because every little bit counts. Thank you.
